"ONE OF ACADIANA'S BEST OFFERINGS
FOR KIDS" - Jane Vidrine
Dear Parents and Coaches,
The summer is quickly approaching and
many of you are beginning to plan your children's summer activities.
As we have done for the past twenty years, my coaches and I would like
to invite your child to participate in the Just 4 Kicks Soccer Camp.
Our camp is designed to teach each child who attends the fundamentals of
soccer, while having fun at the same time. Each camper will be
taught the proper way to pass, trap, dribble and shoot, as well as
crossing, defending, heading and so much more! By allowing your
children to attend our camp, you will be giving them the opportunity to
improve as a player.
This year we will offer two weeks,
including one week of goalkeeper camp. Each session is open to
boys and girls between the ages of four and fourteen. Each day of
camp will be from 8:30 - 12:00 each day. This year's camp will be
at Lafayette Middle School, which is located on the corner of W.
Congress and University Ave. As usual, transportation is provided.
Air conditioned buses will pick the children up in front of The Super
Target on Ambassador Caffery at 8:00 a.m. each morning and return them
about 12:30 in the afternoon. In addition, we will offer bus stops
in Broussard. Campers from the Broussard/New Iberia area will meet
at Albertson's in Broussard between 7:30 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. The bus will
leave about 7:40 a.m. each morning and return them about 12:45 p.m. in
the afternoon.
The cost of the week-long camp is $140
per child. As in the past, we offer a discount for individuals who
wish to attend multiple weeks or families and teams who would like to
attend together. This year, groups of 3-6 who register at the same
time will receive a $10 discount off each registration, while groups of
7 or more will each receive $25 off. In order for the group
discount to apply, all registration forms must be sent in together.
In addition, 10% of each registration fee will be donated to the Miles
Perret Center Services to help local families fight, survive, and live
with cancer.
Each child who registers will receive
transportation, a camp ball, a camp t-shirt, a participation medal, a
camp photo and a certificate. In addition, each camper will
receive an evaluation from their coach which will highlight their
progress and show what areas they need to work on. This year, any
camper who gets picked up at Lafayette Middle will be allowed to
participate in the Lafayette Parish free lunch program, immediately
following camp each day. Since camp ends at noon, any child
interested in the lunch program must be accompanied by a parent,
guardian or sitter.
All campers are asked to bring their
own ball (with their name on it), sunscreen (if needed) and
refreshment/snacks for between sessions (ie. Powerade, water,
fruit, chips, etc). Water fountains are available for anyone
interested. Also, we will have a concession stand open between
sessions. In the event your child loses a ball, cooler or
t-shirt, let me know as soon as possible so our staff can try to locate
the missing items.
As mentioned above, our goal is to
teach your child the fundamentals of soccer. As a result, the camp
is structured in a way which will ensure your child is learning.
Each day will be divided into three or four sessions, depending on the
heat. The first two sessions are for instructional purposes.
It is at this time that we will demonstrate and teach the correct way to
pass, trap, dribble and shoot. The last session of each day is for
scrimmaging, which will provide your child with the opportunity to use
what he or she learned in actual game situations.
To register for the Just 4 Kicks
Soccer Camp, complete the registration form and return it to the address
on the bottom. If you have any questions about camp or need
additional forms, please feel free to contact me at 781-5425 or visit
our website at www.just4kickssoccercamp.com
. If you are unable to reach me,
please call Daniel Broussard at 230-3373. As always, we are
looking forward to working with your child.
Keep Kicking,
Coach Chaney
